Phase Monitor Relays & Different Frequencies

Issue
Do your Phase Monitor Relays work at both 60hz as well as 50hz? What is the tolerance at either value?

Solution/Resolution
The answer varies depending on the product series.

Our PMP & PMD Series products work on both 60 & 50hz as standard.  When the unit first powers up, the software measures the frequency.  If the value is above 55hz, it sets the nominal at 60hz.  If below 55hz, the value is set at 50hz.  In addition, the operating tolerance is +5% at either level, meaning these units will work properly between 57 & 63hz if nominal is 60hz, or 47.5-52.5hz at 50hz nominal

The PAP Series product also works on both 60 & 50hz, but the undervoltage protection must be set different for either frequency.  That's why the adjustable undervoltage dial has two markings: one for 60hz and the other for 50hz.

Both the PCP & PLP Series products are frequency insensitive, meaning they work on both 60 & 50hz without any special considerations.
